Lived Experience Leadership

find your way as a lived experience leader

Solidarity and a sounding board

Lived experience leadership can be amazing, but it can also be lonely and leave you doubting your value. Adjustments you would happily provide to others can be hard to seek for yourself and assumptions about what ‘someone with x can do…’ can be hard to swallow.

You might be struggling with imposter syndrome or simply looking for someone who has ‘walked the walk’, or perhaps you want to explore what lived experience leadership means for you.

My Experience

As someone with long-standing mental and physical health challenges, I’ve had to spend a lot of time reflecting on what makes the workplace work for me. I’ve grappled with the misconception that leadership can only be done full-time and reflected deeply on the power, influence and impact of disclosing vulnerabilities in a leadership role. Much of my growth as a leader has come from working out how much of my personal experience to bring to my professional life and how to bring what is an asset to my role and organisation.
