Self-Harm and Mental Health Support

a compassionate and sensitive approach

In-depth Knowledge

Awareness about mental health and self-harm may be at an all time high, but that doesn’t always translate to understanding and appropriate support. Misinformation and misconceptions about self-harm in particular are hard to shift.

Maybe you’re looking for some advice about policy and procedures around self-harm or to better understand the vulnerabilities and needs of the diverse communities you work with. Maybe you want to undertake consultation or co-produce information to increase understanding and impact.

My Experience

I have worked in the area of self-harm for over 15 years, focusing on the co-production of lived experience-led training, policy and information development. As well as frontline support work, I have been involved in local and national policy making including as a NICE stakeholder and part of the NCCMH Competency Frameworks expert reference group. I have amassed huge knowledge of the wide ranging reasons and presentations of self-harm and more recently having focused on self-harm and intersectionality, curating an invited blog series and conducting a national survey on diverse experiences and needs.
